Oxford Philosophy

I have always thought that the naming of post-war philosophy of language "Oxford Philosophy" was a fitting of a square peg into a round hole. It is common to want movements to fit into our already existing prejudices. Even though academia had developed and become more cosmopolitan by the 1950s people still liked to hearken back to the days when a philosophical school could be said to have a physical location, e.g. "the Oxford Realists".
